The City of Macon was designated Main Street Community and Historic District on June 21, 2002.

  
   
Mission
  
   
To enhance the quality of life and stimulate the economic development of Macon through revitalization and historical preservation.
  

Four Point Approach

  • ORGANIZATION: Building consensus and cooperation among the many groups and individuals who have a role in the revitalization process.
  • DESIGN: Enhancement of the physical appearance of the downtown district by renovating historical buildings and adding new elements.
  • PROMOTION: Organization and coordination of marketing activities to draw residents and tourists to shop downtown Macon.
  • ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING: Devising and implementing new strategies to expand the existing economic base of downtown Macon.
